Arjan Non is post-doctoral researcher at the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA). He studied economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and obtained his PhD from the same university. His PhD thesis has concentrated on reciprocity and financial incentives and contains both theoretical and applied work. The theoretical part analyzes optimal financial incentives when workers are reciprocal, the empirical part examines the effects of sales contest on productivity by conducting field experiments. One of his main research interests is employee behaviour in the workplace: the effects of monetary and non-monetary incentives, the importance of several economic preferences for sorting into payment schemes. A second theme is the role of risk- and time preferences in education and the labor market.
