Hans-Peter Blossfeld joined the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy, as Professor and Chair of Sociology in September 2012. He is Professor and Chair of Sociology I at Bamberg University since 2002, where he is on leave since Sept. 2012. Up to his appointment at the EUI, he directed the State Institute for Family Research (IFB) at Bamberg University (2003-2012) and the Institute of Longitudinal Studies in Education (INBIL) (2008-2012). 2006-2012 Blossfeld conceptualized, founded and then directed the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), supported by a 95 Mio. euro grant from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany. He has published 35 books and over 240 articles on life course research, social inequality, youth, family, and educational sociology, labor market research, demography, social stratification and mobility, the modern methods of quantitative social research and statistical methods for longitudinal data analysis – which have been cited about 13,000 times.
