Isabella Grabner is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. She joined Maastricht University in 2010 after having received her PhD from WU Vienna. Her work is published in journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, Journal of Accounting Research, and The Accounting Review.
The common denominator of all of her research projects is performance measurement and/or the design of incentive systems. Over the last years, her main pillar has become complementing the accounting literature on performance management and incentives with insights from labour economics, which is also reflected in her current research projects. These include a study on implicit incentives for human capital acquisition, an analysis of the consequences of supervisors’ evaluation behaviour, a comparison of effort- versus risk-based incentives in the change of an incentive system, the choice of performance measures in promotion decisions, and the loss of (female) talent in academia.
