Data and statistics
ROA’s research activities generate several data sets and statistics in the field of education and the labour market. The main statistics are not only published in reports and articles but are also available through several (internet-) data applications. ROA has also made a number of data sets available for research purposes.
School leaver surveys
Since the early nineties ROA has conducted research among recent school-leavers in most sectors of education in the Netherlands. The surveys among different groups of school-leavers have been strongly standardized and serve as a monitoring instrument for the transition from school to work, covering almost the full breadth of the Dutch education system. More information on the surveys can be found here (only in Dutch). The data generated by the school leaver surveys are available (on request) for scientific research purposes. The school leaver survey data are disseminated by DANS (Data Archiving and Networked Services), an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
An English version of the ROA school leaver data set is also available on request.
ROA Life Long Learning Survey
The aim of the survey is to monitor formal learning, informal learning, and knowledge development in the Dutch population. This rich data allows for the examination of determinants and correlates of learning. To date, four waves of data have been gathered for the years 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013. The 2010 and 2013 data are available through DANS.
REFLEX, international survey higher education graduates
In addition to the abovementioned national surveys ROA was coordinator of the REFLEX project, a large-scale European survey among higher education graduates. The REFLEX project was financed as a Specific Targeted Research Project (STREP) of the European Union’s Sixth Framework Programme. The REFLEX data file is available for scientific research purposes, click here for more information on the project and the data request form.
HEGESCO, international survey higher education graduates Eastern Europe
HEGESCO data available for scientific research purposes: in the HEGESCO project a graduate survey was conducted amongst the higher education graduates of several eastern European countries. The survey and the data match the REFLEX methodology. The data request form can be found here. More information on the HEGESCO project can be found at the HEGESCO website.
School leaver survey statistics
The school leaver surveys are designed to function as a monitoring instrument for the transition from school to work, covering the full breadth of the Dutch education system. The statistics generated by these surveys contain information on labour market outcomes, competencies and subsequent study activities. More information about the school leaver survey can be found here (in Dutch).
Labour market forecasts
The Education and Labour Market Project is a major research project within the Dynamics of the Labour Market programme. The project focuses in particular on the match between education and occupation, the substitution processes in the labour market, and the labour market perspectives for more than 100 educational programmes and occupations. Based on a wide variety of data, the forecasts are differentiated by education and occupation. For more information on statistics on labour market forecasts please contact Didier Fouarge.
