Merve Özer is a PhD candidate at the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) at Maastricht University. She holds an M.Sc. in Economics from Middle East Technical University (Turkey) and an M.Sc. in Demography from Institute of Population Studies at Hacettepe University (Turkey). Before joining ROA, she worked as a researcher in Political and Economic Research Laboratory at Atılım University (Turkey), where she conducted research on demographic transition and its economic implications, labor market transitions, self-employment and short-time working. Her main research interests are in labor and population economics. Her current research focuses on the association of individuals’ migration decision with their risk attitudes and personality traits and the economic integration of immigrants.
